Nurse-Family Partnership Success Stories in Guilford County
In 2000, Robin Britt, the CEO of Guilford Child Development, had a vision to integrate two evidence-based programs — Nurse-Family Partnership and Early Head Start — to provide a support system for low-income women and children in Guilford County. As a result, more than 500 mothers and 350 babies have been helped. Here are some of their stories:
- NFP Nurse Home Visitor Shelby’s client came to her scared and unsure about her pregnancy. She was in college and had escaped an abusive home environment that left her no support network. With Shelby’s support, this young mother delivered a healthy daughter, continued working part-time and graduated from college with a degree in business management.
- NFP Nurse Home Visitor Keisha’s client delivered a healthy, beautiful girl despite a pregnancy complication. Today, the young mother has graduated from high school, and is enrolled at Kiesha’s college alma mater, where she’s majoring in elementary education.
