DENVER, CO (September 26, 2018) — Nurse-Family Partnership ® (NFP) – a national program serving first-time moms and their children living in poverty – has awarded Woodrow “Woody” McCutchen and Robert “Bob” F. Hill with the first Robert F. Hill Awards for Exceptional Impact.

“Widespread realization of our vision for change would never have been possible without extraordinary champions like Bob and Woody,” said David Olds, PhD, founder of Nurse-Family Partnership and professor of pediatrics at University of Colorado. “Their strong leadership took what was once a well-studied, academic program and transformed it into what is today – the national Nurse-Family Partnership program – and gave it the momentum to be a force for change, reaching hundreds of thousands of families across our country.”

The Exceptional Impact Award celebrates individuals who have made a significant impact on Nurse-Family Partnership’s mission and vision for the future. Named for Robert F. Hill – one of the first recipients of the award – this award honors those who tirelessly advocate for Nurse-Family Partnership to change the lives of vulnerable families across the country and end the cycle of poverty.

In 2003, Hill became the first board chairman of the Nurse-Family Partnership National Service Office and served in this position for over 14 years. Hill is currently a partner at the law firm, Hill & Robbins, P.C. in Denver, Colorado, which he co-founded in 1978.

McCutchen is currently managing director of Blue Meridian Partners, and previously served as vice president and senior portfolio manager at The Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, based in New York. Since 2002, his philanthropic leadership with these two organizations has resulted in more than $100 million to grow Nurse-Family Partnership and have a long-lasting impact on child poverty across the county and to scale the growth of the NFP program.

Over  40 years of research show that Nurse-Family Partnership is successful in improving maternal health and birth outcomes, preventing child abuse, reducing childhood injuries, increasing children’s school readiness and reducing juvenile crime. Nurse-Family Partnership has served over 280,000 low-income, first-time moms in 42 states, U.S. Virgin Islands and many Tribal communities.

In Colorado, Nurse-Family Partnership serves families in all 64 counties.

Nurse-Family Partnership ® changes the future for the most vulnerable babies born into poverty by giving a first-time mom trusted support from her own personal nurse throughout the first 1,000 days, from pregnancy until her child’s second birthday. Nurse-Family Partnership is backed by 40 years of scientifically-proven outcomes for both mom and baby, and currently serves over 34,000 moms in 42 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and six Tribal communities.
