“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.”

Maya Angelou

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

I was 17 when I had my first child. I still have fond memories of the nurse, Nicole, who taught me how to embrace motherhood and give my child everything I could. I came to see her as a friend, and could not imagine those first two years without her. Twelve years and two more boys later, I completely agree with the phrase “it takes a village”. The best encouragement I could give a new mom, and something Nicole taught me, don’t be afraid to ask for help. You don’t have to do it all by yourself to be the best mom you can be.Jami S.

You got this mama! That little baby loves you so much.  Erin G.

Inside you is the desire and ability to be a great Mom. Bring it out! You can do it! Tammy S.

Being a mom starts in pregnancy and lasts a lifetime. This journey that you have begun will present opportunities for unimaginable joys and unique challenges. You are up to the task. You have resources within yourself and from your support people in your life, including your NFP nurse, to meet these new adventures. Welcome to motherhood… a blessing that expands your heart so that love overflows to your family.   Christine W.

You got this! Motherhood is so hard but the rewards you get back are worth all the hard work you put in!  Ashley S.

Hi New Moms, I wanted to encourage you and let you know that you got this!… I became a new Mom at 17 years old, just before my senior year in high school. Today, I am a Registered Nurse with 25 years of nursing behind me. You can do this. Stay in school, use whatever resources are available and don’t let minor set-backs keep you from your dreams. Nothing is impossible. You may have to make adjustments, alter your path a little or move around road blocks, but if you keep moving forward, you will reach your destiny and your little one will be right behind you, following in your awesome example. Stay focused, keep smiling and know that every challenge is just another opportunity for you to succeed! Happy Mother’s Day!!! Tamara L.

I wish you kindness, awesomeness and strength as a New Mom. Happy Mothers Day! Chris W.

Parenting is the best and hardest job ever. Enjoy the moments and take lots of pictures and videos. You’ll love watching them when they’re big. Leslie H.

As a new mom you are so excited and fall in love with this beautiful baby. Love your baby and enjoy every moment you can with them during these next few years. But love yourself too, take time for you. Rest, exercise, eat well, surround yourself with positive people who can encourage you and lift you up. Challenge yourself and find a way for you to grow and flourish. When you look back at these years you will have great memories, I want to make sure you have no regrets too. Karen

I just stood behind an expectant mom in line at the airport and it took me back to 25 years ago when I was expecting my son. I remember how uncertain I was of what was ahead. I wish I knew then what I know now which is this simple – you GOT this. You will learn and grow as they do and as long as you stay focused on your health and your baby’s health, it will all fall into place. Ask for help. Seek solutions not perfection. You got this, mom!  Denny P.

You are the most important person in the world to your sweet baby and you’ve got everything inside of you needed to be a great mom! Taking care of a little one is full-time work with 24 hour responsibilities and some days can be hard, exhausting and even scary-like the first time the baby gets sick. So when those days come, know your not alone, in fact, we’ve all been there! And just like us, you’ll get through those feelings too, and will soon again experience a magic moment, like seeing your baby smile at you, or hearing the most adorable baby giggle ever, or holding the tiniest, most precious little hand in your hand, and all you remember is how much you love your sweet child-and no one in the world can do that better than you! Happy Mother’s Day!Jane P.

I am inspired by your courage! I know you’ll use that strength to support and guide your precious child. Lisa C.

Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your child. Sara M.

Take each phase of parenting as it comes to you. Don’t worry about the next phase or the phase after that. Just do your best today. Take care of yourself and then you’ll be able to take care of your baby. Meg

You have a mission to complete. Remember you are learning along with your child and there is no certain way to parent. Everything you do and don’t do will impact your child. This is the most humble and caotic journey yet so beautiful. You can do this mama!! Lily C.

Being a mom takes strength, courage, and tons of patience. You’ll find yourself waking up at 2am stumbling over to get your bundle of joy to only look into their eyes and say “wow I can’t believe I made this little person!” All those nights of waking up to feed, change, and cradle my little one were so worth it. There will be some hard days, I won’t deny that but there’s no better feeling in this world than to watch your child grow and develop mentally and know that it’s because of you and your dedication. Happy mother’s day to my NFP Family ! Cornel B.

Bringing a new life into the world is one of life’s largest opportunities for change. A new baby gives you a new motivation to do better and try for the best version of you. While you may feel the desire to learn new skills you may not know how. This is how you do it! This is such an important support for you and your baby, your nurse will help guide your path. I was a NFP nurse for over 8 years and I have been so inspired by my former moms, so many positive changes! Keep up the good work, knowledge is powerful! Best Wishes! Brooke F. BSN, RN

You are doing a great job! Keep going! Mai

“Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn’t know you had and dealing with fears you never knew existed.” – Linda Wooten

Mothers, keep on keeping on! You can…You will…You are…

Melody T.

Having a baby was so much harder than I expected, but it gets better and brings so much joy. We’re here with you on this journey. It takes a village! Caroline H.

Be good to yourself! Get rest when you can. If others offer help, take it! Motherhood it tough, but you can do this!! Julie B.

The team at NFP and all its supporters are here for you. When motherhood drags you down, just ask what will matter a year from now. Those are the things to focus on. Those are the moments where precious memories are made. Sending wishes for strength, kindness, and chocolate when the moments are really bad. Cameron M.

You got this!! Trust the process. Learn to be gentle and kind with yourself. Being a mom is a blessing and full of learning opportunities. Reach out for support. No “woman” is an island unto herself. Love, learn and laugh. Happy Mother’s Day. Marie J.

You are a rockstar and your little one is beyond lucky to have you! Maggie W.

You’re tired and frustrated and lonely and feel like you can’t possible give anymore of yourself, right? Then, guess what? You’re doing great! Is that baby sleeping in your arms, with a full belly and dreamy smiles? Any mother who worries they aren’t a good mom is a great mother. God gave this baby to you, Mama. No one else. You are what that child needs and wants. You are enough. Don’t forget that. Even on the worst days, you are enough.  Kristi S.

There is nothing that warms a childs heart more, than to be held by its mother! Lisa D.

The days may seem long and the nights even longer. Have faith that this phase won’t last forever. Cuddle your baby and cover him/her with your kisses. When you look back, you’ll be amazed at how fast the time flew by. YOU GOT THIS! Melissa H.

Try your best to make a supportive little community for yourself. Sometimes that is family and sometimes it isn’t. Story hours, trips to the park are both good places to find your community. My best wishes for you to be a successful parent. Janie S.

You can do this. Focus on what really matters and let go of the other stuff. The more stressed and burned-out you’re feeling, the more this matters. I’ve been there and know if I managed, you can do it even better!

Terry D..

Being a mother of a baby or toddler is truly the most exhausting job in the world! Yet it is the most important work you can do. A one-of-a-kind person will be shaped to be all they can be through your love and commitment to them. Hang in there, young mom!Patricia G.

All the sleepless nights, all the diapers, whatever you’re feeling – know that motherhood is amazing and exhausting. It’s a brand new journey, and you will be amazing at it! Chelsea E.

Be brave. Courage is the most important characteristic you can model for your child. You may feel alone sometimes, but that is only because you are doing something most people can’t. Be brave… you can do this. Emily R.

It’s ok to be scared and not know what to do sometimes. Older parents have questions and doubts every day about whether they’re doing the right things for their kids. But being a good mom means you love your child, you protect him and you speak up if you have a question about what to do. Don’t just guess. And don’t be afraid to ask questions. You are the advocate for your baby. If you don’t know what to do, ask. If someone says it’s a stupid question, who cares? Ask someone else. All parents need help. Lean on knowledgeable moms you know. Lean on your baby’s doctor. Lean on your nurse. It’s their job to help you keep your baby healthy and safe. It is your job to do that. And since you’ve already come to us, we know you CAN do that. Sara S

Make sure to lean on your community – they’re there for you and will support you through this new adventure.Chelsea E.

There are snapshots of beautiful in motherhood. The rest can be draining and feel thankless. Remember the snapshots, love the snapshots. You are doing an amazing job! Sara D.
