Nurse-Family Partnership Success Stories in Pitt County
- When NFP Nurse Home Visitor Taminisha’s client learned she was pregnant, she and her husband were living with her parents and had no means of transportation. The young mother-to-be also smoked cigarettes. With nurse Taminisha’s help, she learned to make healthy choices during her pregnancy and was able to stop smoking. Today, the client, her husband and their healthy baby live in a two-bedroom apartment. Her husband has a reliable job, and she is enrolled in college and pursuing her dream of becoming a massage therapist.
- NFP Nurse Home Visitor Elisa’s client was a high school senior when she found out she was pregnant. Due to a health complication, the young mother did not think she would be able to finish school. She was unemployed and had no transportation. With nurse Elisa’s support and encouragement, she obtained her GED and went on to enroll in community college. She is employed part-time and has her own car. Her goal is to have a career as a physical therapist.
