The Nurse-Family Partnership program began serving as a Nevada charity in 2008, and already results show that 97 percent of babies born to mothers in the program are delivered at a healthy weight. The Southern Nevada Health District was chosen to target NFP services to the North Las Vegas area because it has long been an area where young, single, low-income women give birth with little, if any, prenatal care.

When she was six months pregnant, first-time mom Tinnekia learned about Nurse-Family Partnership through the WIC Office of Tarrant County in Texas. She was glad to learn that her nurse, Janelle, also known as Jay to Tinnekia, would be with her throughout her pregnancy, giving her advice and much-needed support.
