Nurse-Family Partnership of Louisiana
Louisiana has been a leader in evidence-based home visitation. The state was one of the earliest implementers of Nurse-Family Partnership, beginning in 1999.
Nurse-Family Partnership is operated by the Louisiana Office of Public Health and through a strong collaboration with the Tulane University Department of Psychiatry. Thanks to public-private partnerships, Nurse-Family Partnership nurses are serving first-time, low-income families in 52 of the state’s parishes.
Nurse-Family Partnership in Louisiana
Nurse-Family Partnership is a rare Louisiana charitable community health program that has been documented to achieve lasting significant effects through multiple, well-designed randomized, controlled trials. More than 37 years of research proves that it works. This evidence shows our clients — low-income, first-time mothers — that if they follow the program and work with their nurse, they can transform their lives and the lives of their children.
